On this site I mostly write about leveraged ETFs, but I wanted to take a detour into one of the hottest names in AI right now: Anthropic, the lab behind Claude (yes, the same Claude I use a lot in my own work). Anthropic is privately held, its shares do not trade on any public exchange, and most retail investors cannot buy them directly. That has not stopped a growing list of mutual funds, closed-end funds, and even a handful of ETFs from picking up Anthropic stock in private rounds, and those positions show up in regulated holdings filings.
Across the disclosures I have pulled so far, 93 fund vehicles report combined Anthropic exposure of roughly $6.67 billion. Most of those marks are from the Q1 2026 reporting period; a few funds have already filed into Q2. The list includes Capital Group, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, BlackRock, Coatue, Alger, Destiny Tech100, ARK, JPMorgan, Franklin/ClearBridge, Nuveen, New York Life, KraneShares, and Magnitude.
Headline Takeaways
- Capital Group is the largest sponsor by a wide margin, with 5 funds and $3.15B between them. Two of those are first-time disclosures: AMCAP Fund (AMCPX) at $469.9M and Capital World Growth & Income Fund (CWGIX) at $46.8M, both bought through the new Class H-1 preferred.
- The single biggest position anywhere on the list is still Capital Group's Growth Fund of America (AGTHX), at $2.06B across 7.94M shares in the Q1 mark, split between Series F-1 and G-1 preferred.
- No ETF holds more Anthropic than the iShares A.I. Innovation and Tech Active ETF (NYSE: BAI), which disclosed $59.0M, or 0.42% of AUM, for the first time in the April 2026 period. KraneShares AGIX is the more concentrated ETF bet at 2.76% of AUM, and the T. Rowe Price Technology ETF holds a token stake.
- Alger turns up for the first time, with 8 funds and $65.2M between them. The tiny Alger Concentrated Equity Fund carries the heaviest weight of any new entrant at 2.21% of AUM, with Alger 35 Fund at 1.41%.
- Destiny Tech100 Inc. (NYSE: DXYZ), a listed closed-end fund, is still the most concentrated Anthropic bet a retail investor can actually buy: 17.92% of NAV on a $134.1M position (Q1 mark).
- Coatue Innovative Strategies Fund holds 9.94% of its AUM in Anthropic (Q1 mark), the heaviest weighting among institutional interval funds.
- BlackRock is now up to 16 funds on the list. Four large-cap mutual funds joined in the May 2026 wave, alongside the tech closed-end funds (BST, BSTZ, BTX) that were already there.
- Honorable mention: Magnitude Capital's Innovation Access Fund holds Anthropic at 25.82% of AUM, the highest concentration anywhere here. That number is mostly a function of size, though. It is a small, illiquid interval vehicle with under $50M in total assets.

Notes & Methodology
- Source data: company disclosures from two reporting waves. One covers report periods of April 30 and May 2026, filed in June and July. The other covers January 30 to March 31, 2026. Fiscal year ends vary by fund, so not every holder reports in the same window. The final column of each table shows which period a row came from.
- Several funds hold more than one Anthropic share class (Series B, D, E, F, F-1, G, G-1, H, and H-1 preferred). The position values here add up every class a fund holds.
- "% of AUM" is the position's reported fair value divided by the fund's total reported AUM for the same period.
- Mutual fund tickers are usually the primary investor share class, typically Class A or Investor. Other share classes of the same fund hold the same Anthropic position pro rata.
- "BlackRock Science & Technology Trust" (BST) and "BlackRock Science & Technology Term Trust" (BSTZ) keep reporting identical Anthropic share counts, 156,064 each, which most likely means the two trusts co-invested.
